Artist's Description
Oil on panel, approx. 50 cm x 70 cm
Have a view at my beautiful hometown Rostock, the biggest city of Northeastern Germany, right at the Baltic Sea.
St. Peter's Church is one of Rostock's landmarks and situated in its Eastern Historic District. It was built in the characteristic brick gothic style of the medieval hanseatic cities.
Partly destroyed and completely burnt out by bombs in World War II (1942) the church finally got her tall, copper plated spire back in 1994 as a symbol of new hope after the reunification of Germany.
This oldest church of Rostock was already mentioned in 1252. It is 117m high.

Barbara Pommerenke replied:
Well, Dettmannsdorf-Kölzow is really close to us too :-). Is your family really originally from there?

Barbara Pommerenke replied:
At the moment I even have a small exhibition in Guestrow and a part of the business I'm working for is there too.:-) So I do know Guestrow a little. It is a beautiful little town. But so I don't wonder that you can relate to my painting! Thank you so much for your kind words, Michael.
