Paestum (Southern Italy), Hera Temple, built in about 460-450 BC. It has been variously thought of as a temple dedicated to Poseidon. The temple was also found to be used to worship more than just Hera but also Zeus and another unknown god.
During Easter vacation I had the luck to visit these famous, Greek temple ruins of Paestum and get a lots impressions back home with.
Paestum is a major Graeco-Roman city in the Campania region of Italy. It is located in the north of Cilento, near the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, about 85 km SE of Naples.
Cilento with the Archaeological sites of Paestum and Velia belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage.

Beautiful Barbara! I have been there several times and it is indeed an enchanting place. I love the colours you have used, well done!
Barbara Pommerenke replied:
Thank you so much, Ernesto, for you lovely words! This place indeed exceeds all expectations. I have been to Rom / Roma, Ostia and Pompeji before, so was kind of "prepared". Yet these temples are so dominant and huge, they breathe still some of the old glory and power of the ancient empires. It is overwhelming and it is not to understand that it is not as famous worldwide as it should be. But this has the advantage that you can really savor the moment you standing in front of those giants ALONE (at least for a moment).
