Barbara, thanks for the lantern growth warning. So far they tend to like being near our apple tree, lol, not sure what that means.
Barbara Pommerenke replied:
This sounds kind of cute, I guess they want to be painted with apples ;-) (or maybe you mowed them over if you have lawn around the tree?).

Beautiful painting. I have those lantern flower plants that popped up out of nowhere one year and come up every year now, so I spotted those in your painting right away. v/f
Barbara Pommerenke replied:
Thank you so much, Paula, for your nice comment! Btw, take care that the lanterns don't take over your garden, they like to spead by their roots really widely throughout the yard, lol. Anyway, they are a little jewel in of fall.

Congratulations on your First Place Win in the Newest from the Newest Contest, a well deserved win.
Barbara Pommerenke replied:
Thank you, carol, to both your lovely comments! I got my lantern flower plants from neighbors, in who's garden they are growing "like hell". They are really the last spot of color in the late fall. The blue thistles I need to cut and dry in later summer, but now their color is all faded and they need to be thrown away soon.

Hi Barbara, Your paintings are lovely. The brushstrokes are so beautifully done. I remember these lantern plants growing up as a child in my Mother's garden. I was fascinated by them. Carol
